December, illuminations, Christmas markets, mulled wine, cakes and THE big end-of-year event... the Telethon! On 2 and 3 December, the 30-hour live donation marathon will be celebrating its 30th edition! Paris Bike Tour is joining forces with millions of other people for this unique public event.
Because 30 years is also the average life expectancy of a person with muscular dystrophy. But it was less, and in even more difficult conditions, when the AFM-Téléthon was created. 30 years ago, there was nothing.
Since then, millions of us have been concerned about these people and their families affected by a rare disease. We are raising millions to support research and help them on a daily basis, to cry out with them their rage to live and not just to survive!
There are so many ways for so many people to get involved: you can play sport, shop for charity, go out or simply sit on your sofa, phone or computer in hand, and make a donation.
More than a hundred events are planned in Paris and the Ile-de-France region! You can put on your trainers for the Running Heroes, go to the (d)amazing theatre at Les Déchargeurs, or even get a massage near our shop, at the École des Spas et Instituts! The Compagnons du Devoir also sell their marvellous solidarity products on the rue de l'Hôtel de Ville. As well as the TéléthonParnasse Village de Noël welcomes you with a host of activities.
Cyclists are not to be outdone: you can still register for the beautiful Défi Vélo at the Hippodrome de Longchamps. You'll then be warmly welcomed by AFM-Télévision and France Télévision... right next to the main Telethon set!
So get pedalling, or at least get your donations in!
