Bikes for the 21st century!
This year, on 19 and 20 September, the spotlight will be on the heritage of the 21st century. It's a theme that's right on time: between the renovation of old buildings, the construction of new ones and future projects, it's at the heart of the discussions. What could be more practical and coherent than a bicycle to take the debate to the grassroots?
So get on your bike and bring together Richelieu, Mitterrand and their arsenal of...papers!
For centuries, we have been preserving, conserving and archiving to inspire or, on the contrary, modify our future projects. And where? The Bibliothèque Nationale de France! The BNF is exceptionally opening its three doors to us: its seventeenth-century town house (this is the last time it will be open before work begins!!), its Pavillon de l'Arsenal [where all the current urban projects come together], and its four twentieth-century towers [still the subject of controversy].
In just one spin (or a little more), you can link these three prestigious monuments by following the cycle paths along the Seine from the centre of Paris to the New Latin Quarter.
