Try smoking it and see?

Hodler, Monet and Munch barely had time to present their paintings of the impossible at the Musée Marmottan-Monet (see our last article), one of their colleagues takes the problem in the opposite direction! It makes painting impossible. Impossible, like a rambunctious child brandishing its determined «na! No, this is not a pipe. Try smoking it and see? Don't let yourself be taken in by the deceptive appearance on the class teacher's blackboard, as the enfant terrible René... Magritte would tell us.

Magritte nonetheless proposes to celebrate the betrayal of images through a logical, rational and implacable method. There is only one step from art to philosophy. Magritte dares to take it. For the first time, a museum is presenting the work from this angle.

A new angle, an original approach that suits the master well, if the crowds that visit the Centre Pompidou day and night are anything to go by. ! Close to the Paris Bike Tour shop, the new Beaubourg exhibition «Magritte - La Trahison des Images».» was not even a month old when a second nocturne was opened to allow everyone to admire and apprehend Magritte's works without suffering from the crowds. It was even referred to as the ’Magritte Event«. We can see the queues arriving every day from 11am (except Tuesdays), and they thin out around 8pm.

So don't hesitate to follow suit, as best you can Mondays and Thursdays until 11pm to discover this remarkable temporary exhibition with complete peace of mind! More than just a one-off event, you'll discover Magritte's iconic and little-known works through his vision, which seems timeless.
